- Shelter: Provide clean, dry, draft-free housing. Good ventilation is essential, but avoid cold drafts. Moisture control is critical.
- Outdoor Access: Birds can benefit from going outside, but ensure they have protection from weather and predators.
- Daily Commitment: Maintaining a flock requires daily attention to feed, water, and welfare.
These are some of my coops. I have some others that aren't near these in case I need to quarantine any birds.
These are my
rain/shade tables for the birds to get under. I also have some sprinklers in some of the pens to cool the ground on very hot days, and all of the pens covered with some good netting for protection from aerial predators. I also planted trees for shade in all of the pens for the hot summer days we have here.
