To prepare your flock, ensure you have a clean coop, provide adequate food and water, and consider the needs of your chickens, such as protection from predators and proper nesting boxes. Additionally, be proactive about health by checking for parasites and adjusting their diet as needed.

To manage the introduction of new chickens to your flock, quarantine the new birds for at least 30 days to monitor for diseases before introducing them. Afterward, allow the new and existing chickens to see each other without direct contact for a week to help them acclimate before merging them into the same space. The best time to integrate them is at night.
